All-Conference Teams Announced

The Langston University basketball teams had eight individuals recognized when the 2009-2010 All-Red River Athletic Conference teams were announced late last week.

The Lady Lions cleaned up. Head coach Jerome Willis was named the RRAC Coach of the Year. In just two seasons, Willis’ Lady Lions have had 54 wins and only 13 loses.

Sanetra Jackson was named the RRAC Women’s Player of the Year. Jackson led the conference in scoring with 19.5 ppg. She was also a first-team All-RRAC selection.

Stephanie Madden was named the RRAC Women’s Newcomer of the Year. Madden leads the conference in blocks/game and is averaging a double-double on the season (17.6 ppg and 10.8 rpg). In addition to being the Newcomer of the Year, Madden was named the RRAC Tournament MVP and she was also a first-team All-RRAC selection.

Latesha Calton-Woods was also a first-team All-RRAC selection. Calton-Woods is leading the Lady Lions in assists/game and steals/game.

Ashlea Gray and Shonderlette Paul both received the All-RRAC Honorable Mention nod. Both Gray and Paul are averaging just under eight points per game.
For the men’s team, senior Catrell Currie was named to the first-team All-RRAC team. Currie re-wrote the LU record books by hitting 98 3-pointers in one season. He also had the highest free throw percentage in LU history (91%).

Alvin Lewis was a second-team All-RRAC selection. In two seasons at LU, Lewis proved to be a very versatile player with both a great shooting touch and the ability to handle the ball.

Congratulations to all of the honorees!
