Two Langston University Lady Lions were honored on last Tuesday (March 23) when the 2009-2010 NAIA Women’s Basketball All-American Teams were announced. Senior guard Sanetra Jackson was selected as a Second-Team All-American and junior forward Stephanie Madden was selected as a Third-Team All-American.
Jackson, the RRAC Player of the Year, averaged 18.9 ppg during the season and is seventh in Langston University history in career scoring, second in career three-pointers made, and third in career three-point attempts. Jackson was also ranked in top 25 in the NAIA in several offensive categories.
Madden, the RRAC Newcomer of the Year and the RRAC Tournament MVP, finished the season averaging a double-double, 17.5 ppg and 10.5 rpg. Madden will return for the Lady Lions next season and if she has another year like she had this season, she will write herself into the Langston University Lady Lions Basketball record books in both rebounds and blocks.
The Lady Lions as a team finished the season with a 28-8 record after falling in the first round of the NAIA Women’s Basketball National Tournament to Lee University (Tenn.) 65-63.
