Langston University Director of Athletics Pat Simon has been selected to speak at the NAIA National Convention in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 10, 2010. Mr. Simon will speak on “Benefits and Challenges of Enrollment Driven Athletics.” He is one of four panelists, which include Jim Abbott, Oklahoma City University; Kurt Pathberg, Southern States Athletic Conference Commission; and Bob Wilson, Vanguard University. Simon will also speak at the Conference Symposium given by the NAIA Committee on Gender Equity, “Meet the Professionals.” Mr. Simon was tapped because of his knowledge and professionalism in his field of athletics.
Coach Simon, as he is affectionately called by the athletes, is in his second year at Langston University and has had numerous successes early in his tenure. He has two football conference championships, two women’s basketball championships, one women’s track championship, three national playoff appearances, the NAIA Champions of Character award, four National Championships in his administration career, and successes in the classroom. Last year, the overall total GPA in athletics and 2.67.
Coach Simon has built a strong athletic program and attributes his success because of the support from the faculty, staff, coaches, community and friends of Langston University. Simon is a former teacher, high school administrator, high school and college coach. He coached football, basketball, and track and now CEO of Athletics. Pat Simon is a native of Baltimore, Maryland.
